How uncouth!

I was eating me a slightly-warmed peanut butter and raisin pecan bread (from none other than the essential baking dumpster) sandwich, but was struggling to keep the peanut butter contained within the slices. I finally resigned myself, after some frantic licking, to the task of washing my jeans and fingers upon completion of the consumptatory errand at hand. My fingers were happily washed and my mind was on other things when I re-entered my room where the following image met my horror-stricken eyes (taken from my camera phone...I don't have my camera with me anymore)

I wondered in disgust at the creature that would make such a deposit on my rug. After remembering that I did not own any small animals, I realized that my sandwich had effectively pooped on my rug! Oh the nerve!!!!

dodecahedronic post

It's a new month! So, I would like to use this time to list a few things that I have been learning lately. Ready?! hold on to your hats!!!!:
1) automotive belts lack belt loops--this results in a difficult replacement process
2) I can run for 18 blocks if pressed for time
3) windows crack with the application of extreme heat--i.e., a space heater...
4) Barns & Nobles will not accept a Borders rewards card
5) Greenlake smells funny....any way you put, jump into, walk by, or swim in it....
6) smoking is bad for your health
7) trains have wheels
8) nudibranchs feed on various sponges, and various sponges, in turn, like to grow on the shells of hairy trichton
9) blogger auto-saves drafts of posts to ensure that precious lists like this one are intact even in the event of browser crashes which are reported by my crash feedback application (Talkback) before they even happen...
Huh, i think i'll take that last one as a sign that it is too late for me to be learning new things this evening, and I think that I will do my best to fall asleep with the hopes of synthesizing all of these new things...
Speaking of sleep, did you know that dolphins sleep one hemisphere of their brains at a time!?...ok, there will be a quiz later.

Frightening shirts on public transportation.

I wore my Lochness Monster shirt to work the other day. I was hoping to scare people into quitting smoking. I don't know if it worked. I always end up feeling so darn affirming...People did seem, however, pretty intimidated as I rode the bus home that day. I was trying to think about funny things awhile ago, but nothing came to mind right away. What stories should I share with you? Perhaps you can share some with me instead? Did you know this?

Look Who's hungry!

I got to feed Deloris today! I fed Emerick last week along with wolfy. These guys like to eat tasty mackerel and squid, respectively. The Seattle Aquarium likes to keep the octopuses in their own tanks now! Naughty, naughty...

On Fruits

As I sit here eating my orange, I think on my entire peeling experience. My initial observation was that this orange was surprisingly difficult to peel. In order to expose the juicy flesh of this navel, I had to use the handle of my spoon to start the rind removal. The greatest mystery is the more recent historical appearance of the symbiotic mini orange that seems to appear in the modern oranges that I have been enjoying. Do you know the one that I'm talking about? I am not quite sure how to describe it other than it's that creepy section that seems to grow on one end of the orange as though it were some symbiont alien that upon ripening will burst out of the poor host. Genetic modification, anyone? It is woeful to me that one day when I have my own offspring (assuming my ovum are not genetically modified to end in the equivalent of an ectopic fruit tragedy) I will be forced to explain to them, "when I was your age, oranges had seeds that you would have to pick out."

Bubble tea

I had some bubble tea with my friend, Libby, today. I decided to try the rose flavor. It reminded me of grandmas. I have no idea...

Incomprehensible possibility

What would happen to life if I were to pack up all of my dishes except for one set? I would be forced to use and wash this set of dishes each time I wanted to eat. I could see this being problematic in that I may decide to not eat. however, I imagine that after enough self-digestion, I would be driven to bite the bullet and wash the dishes. This idea seems to be plausible for more reasons than one. Firstly, The build-up of hoarded dirty, crusty, hazardous dishes in my room would be drastically reduced. Secondly, I may end up conserving more of our non-renewable resources since the amount of warm, soapy water necessary to clean the dishes would be drastically reduced as the rings of residual milk and chunks of misplaced tomato sauce would not have a chance to adhere. Besides, I'm considering going on a minimalism kick-it is just so much more convenient, especially when faced with a perpetual threat of nuclear holocaust. (Just in case you need this: be prepared)
This also makes me think about the tasty generic sweetened wheat puff cereal that I purchased at Fred Meyer's this evening (I found my selection of groceries to be laughably diverse: cereal, sandwich meat, and Barefoot Zinfandel). I could really go for a bowl of those tasty bits of sweety crunch right about now. However, eating a bowl would necessitate another session of bothersome dental hygiene before sleep, and that activity sounds like it would be just too much. I had better go to sleep so that I may forget about my hungry tummy

I just finished watching "The Departed." I liked it. Now it is 2:43AM. I should go to sleep.

Posting for posting's sake

the river of posting genius is again running a bit dry. He's an email that i just sent to one of my professors:
Hi!
How has the year been going so far? I just wanted to let you know that I am still rearin' to help out in the lab. I miss school and learning terribly, and I feel so lost! I want to write, and research, and learn like the rest of the kids at school!!! Let me know if there's anything i can do to help!
Thanks!
Shelley

I'm getting desperate!

Poetry

Where do the stairs climb?
Why do the fish fly?
How can a mole dig?
When will the moon die?
Who talks to their dreams?
What makes icebergs freeze?
These are the answers.

Sausage

I got some sausage out of the Trader Jo's dumpster last night. It's in my fridge. Should I even try eating it?

My new friends

In addition to my new friends from work, I recently met my new headset, Oscar. He will be living in my black tote along with my Quit coach toolkit. I hope to adorn him with the appropriate attire (it cannot be permanent), and I am willing and open to hear suggestions. I talked to a real person today!

Shelley goes Metropolitan

Speaking of my job, here's the building where I will be working! Ahhhhhh (I can't remember which floor the company has, but it's waaaaaaay up there with a panoramic view of Seattle)

Trendy Jackets

I went shopping downtown yesterday for clothes that I can wear to my new job that starts Monday. I tried on this oh so cute jacket that Lindsey found. Besides not being right for me at all, it got stuck on my bicepcs when I was trying to take it off--I am too strong for the jacket!!!

Top rated

I would like to point out that my top rated list over to the right is actually from the week of Feb. 20, 2005. Maybe I should start listening to music...

Wow, this is really, really ugly

Treasure

I found bread in the dumpsters behind The Essential Baking Company. I got three items: a loaf of Rosemary Diamante, Desem, and some dinner roles.
What some people throw away...
